The National Highway Authority of India has commenced a nation-wide program for the electronic toll collection on toll plazas on the
National Highways with the help of a device called FASTag.
FASTag utilizes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology to make toll payments directly from your bank account or prepaid wallet account linked to it. The device is affixed on the windscreen of your vehicle and enables you to drive through toll plazas without stopping to make cash payments, each time – it offers near non-stop movement of vehicles through toll plazas and the convenience of cashless payment of toll fee with nation-wide interoperable Electronic Toll Collection services.
FASTag has been made Mandatory, as per the directives of the Government of India, for all new vehicles being registered from 1st December 2017 onwards.
Enabling cashless electronic payment at toll plazas on national highways across India.
Toll charges are automatically deducted, ensuring faster movement through toll plazas.
A cashback of 5% on every transaction, credited directly into the FASTag users linked bank account or wallet.
Users can recharge their FASTag linked wallet online through Credit Card/Debit Card/NEFT/RTGS or Net banking.
Users receive regular SMS Alerts, on their registered mobile phone, for every FASTag transaction.
Easy access to statements with details of all FASTag transactions via bank’s FASTag portal.
After connecting the national highways, the Government of India has started its integration at toll plazas on State and City highways. This has been mandated to further facilitate payment for Parking, Fuel and E-Challans.
The FASTag is moving towards becoming a Unique Identification for a vehicle.
